Year 3: eu and e sounds - with SOUND (finally!)


1. Practise repeating the following words at home. Listen to the recording to see if you were right!
2. Write the words in your vocabulary book in French and in English.


1. petit = small
2. deux = two
3. jeu = game
4. neuf = nine
5. le coeur = the heart
6. Le frère = the brother

7. La tête = the head
8. La mère = the mother
9. Le père = the father
10. La paire = the pair

EXTRA: Try the following tongue twister: neuf petits boeufs, deux petits oeufs. (don't pronounce the final s!!)

Year 3 lesson: e/eu sounds


1. Watch this video up to 2:59.

2. In pairs, try pronouncing this new words:

petit (small)
je (I)
le (the)
deux (two)
jeu (game)
neuf (nine)
boeuf (beef)
coeur (heart)

3. Listen to the recording!

4. In your French books, write today's date: 01/10 and write the following words for the sound /e/. It sounds like a tennis player trying to hit a racket!!

PETIT - CHEMIN - LE - JE - QUE

and practise pronouncing them!! :)
Next lesson, we will write the /eu/ sound.
